Every year since 1983, New York's weirdest freaks migrate to Coney Island to take part in the annual Coney Island Mermaid Parade. The blubbery, the emaciated: all slather themselves in vibrant body paint and don fluorescent wigs to pay tribute to Neptune and remember the days when Coney Island was the premiere amusement destination in the New York City area. This year's parade went off without a hitch as a nearly endless procession of eccentric, half-dresse, technicolor weirdos, and you can see them all in their perver splendor at Jamie Zawinski's blog.
