Even those who didn't like Guillermo Del Toro's Pan's Labyrinth walked away chilled by the classic Pale Man scene, in which Ofelia must travel through a chalk door on her wall into the nightmarish abode of a child-eating albino ghoul with its eyeballs in its palms.
Annalee thought the entire movie was brilliant, although I differed from her in that I found the fascism parts overly cartoonish (as well as being disappointed that the movie so clearly spelled out the fact that Ofelia's visions were not supernatural, but a fantastical recreation, rich in metaphor, of her own terrible world). That said, it's a wonderful film, and it's certainly worth renting if you haven't done so already.
As a side note, the argument in the YouTube comments as to whether or not Ofelia is a bit of an idiot is absolutely priceless. One side claims she's a fool because she was specifically told not to eat anything; other YouTube commenters defend her, because she's just a hungry little girl. I'm siding with the "she's an idiot" crowd: when you see murals on the walls of the Pale Man gobbling greedy children up whole, it's not wise to start pilfering grapes.
