French insurance company Caisse primaire d'assurance-maladie (CPAM) has declared the first of three suicides at Renault's engineering center as a "workplace accident," according to French media reports. The lawyer representing the widow of the engineer who took his life at the age of 39 reportedly said the CPAM's decision demonstrates that work pressures drove the computer engineer to take his life last October.
As we reported earlier this year, the October suicide was followed by two others, as well as an attempted suicide. French prosecutors are also investigating the incidents.
