South Korean pop king Jung Ji-hoon (a.k.a. Rain) has topped the Time 100 poll, beating out Stephen Colbert 470,174 to 278,381 in the venerable newsweekly’s annual list of most influential people in the world. The results were compiled from more than two and half million votes cast online. How rigged was the voting? Rain, who recently had his film debut in the excellent I’m a Cyborg, but that’s OK, is a relative unknown quantity in the U.S. And third place? None other than Sanjaya Malakar--the only American Idol contestant on the list--who’s already raised suspicions about that show’s voting methodology. Maybe the results can simply be chalked up to the poor taste of the masses.
But, wait a minute, Paris Hilton finished last out of 200 candidates, so nix that explanation. Can we get a recount?
