Frequent readers of this blog might know that I have a minor-grade obsession with European subway station architecture. They are far, far deeper than any American subway stations, plumped deep into the earth, vast and sprawling, chthonic underground cities. This was a prevention against bombing. Architecturally, they tend to be fabulous, filled with wonderful art deco extravagance.

Moscow's subways are no exception. If you have the patience to sift through the Cyrillic-only site, some absolutely gorgeous photography of Moscow's metro system is on display. When the nukes start flying and I'm forced to live my life as a post-apocalyptic subterranean dweller, I hope I'm riding the Moscow subways at the time.
