I am an unabashed fan of Lordi: the barely competent but strangely listenable rubber monster rockers who stormed out of Finland last year to win the Eurovision 2006 Song Contest with their song "Hard Rock Hallelujah!" They got Americans to pay attention to Eurovision for the first time ever, and while Yanks largely snickered, wondering why Europeans didn't realize the song contest was a joke, Europeans who'd always known the Song Contest was a pop kitsch monstrosity openly cheered such a bizarre, daring victor over the usual brown-toothed, sequin-dressed Slavic crooners. In fact, some of us dared to hope that an equally daring winner would come out of Eurovision 2007.

That didn't happen, but you can't say Lordi didn't try. This clip shows Lordi trying to set the tone for the evening with an entirely new video of "Hard Rock Hallelujah," even more over-the-top and ridiculous than the original.

These guys should have won again.
