At ToM, we love Flatland: a two-dimensional realm of geometric Victorian mores and social stratums where godlike googolgons rule, triangles are enslaved and women have only one side (removing half the allure) and must sway their hips lest they bisect and murder their male polygonal betters. It's an awesome universe, well beloved by mathematicians and literature buffs alike.

So this certainly piques my interest: Flatland as an artist's project.

In this semi-extreme performance, 6 curious artists strip away not only most of modern life's familiar structures, but an entire dimension: they have elected to inhabit a structure that effectively forces them to live in 2 dimensions.

Of course, the operative word is "effectively..." but it's an interesting performance piece with a tie-in to one of the more fascinating mathematical novels of the 19th century... of which there have been oh so many.
