This gallery of photographs by Chinese artists Liyu and Liubo recreates the events of 2006 as represented by the stories in the newspaper crime blotter. Some of the photographs are quite upbeat, such as a duo of elderly gentlemen fighting off a gang of surly Chinese punks with samurai swords. Others are much less so: the gang rape of a young girl, a mutilated boy pulling his bloody body from the entrance to a video game arcade, or peasant workers asphyxiated by a mysterious poison gas.
