Sen. Pat Leahy (D-Vermont) wants Rove's e-mails. He wants them all. Leahy, the powerful chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, issued a subpoena Wednesday to U.S. Attorney General Alberto Gonzales "compelling" the Department of Justice to hand over every last Karl Rove e-mail in its possession related to the ongoing investigation into the hinky firings of federal prosecutors.
Rove, a senior political advisor to President Bush, is a big fan of outside e-mail accounts, especially those that reside on Republican National Committee servers. At the RNC, four years worth of Rove's correspondence has apparently vanished without a trace.
