This priceless clip features the theme song for Daihei Motion Picture Co.'s original 1960s Gamera "flying turtle monster." Created to rival Toho Studio's Godzilla movies, Gamera is a kid-protecting giant monster whose long career continues into the present. The translation of the Gamera Song is a source of some amusement here ("Gamera, you are so strong! Monsters coming from Mars! Or some other alien world?"), but even more arresting is the image of a giant turtle jetting through space while little kids sing about how great he is. The scene is so innocent and demented that it's no wonder a whole generation of people actually has the Gamera Song somewhere deep in the recesses of its collective childhood memory.
