Sometimes "professional" writers pen things that are so incredibly stupid that they take your breath away. Take this doozy from the Detroit News' John McCormick:

If, like me, you believe that the man-made CO2 global warming theory is akin to creationism or astrology -- unscientific claptrap -- then you should also be disturbed by the latest nonsense coming from the California green lobby.

Global warming "theory?" I suppose gravity and the laws of thermal dynamics are also just theories. How can you trust the opinion of someone on which car to drive when he doesn't accept the findings of the entire scientific community? Someone has spent too much time breathing in exhaust fumes...

McCormick also uses bad logic when he praises SUVs because theoretically they can carry more people than a car, so they are better for the environment.

L**ook, for example, at comparing the emissions of a vehicle based on its occupancy rate. Is it better from an emissions standpoint to have seven people drive around in seven small cars, or for all of them to share a ride in a large SUV?*

But I'd like to see data on the average occupancy of an SUV. I bet it is no different than a passenger car. How many times have you seen a
SUV with 4 or more people inside? Nearly every time I notice an SUV
driving around there is just the driver - or maybe also a child -- inside.

McCormick almost snaps out of his driving dementia towards the end of his "article", but then takes a u-turn back into the stone age.

It's obvious that reducing levels of undesirable activity is in the best interests of us all. The tough part is basing this effort on sound science...*

It must be a burden to be smarter than the thousands of scientists around the world who know that climate change is more than just a theory.
