Lest you think we live a life of Mossbergian glamour and ego maintenance here at Gadget Lab, I direct your attention to this morning. Your humble correspondent was huddling in the designated wetland area of his backyard garden, waiting for a mosquito or two to notice his presence and feast accordingly on his blood.
This was in pursuit of afflictions worthy of the Therapik, a battery-operated doohickey that's supposed to quickly alleviate the sting from common insect bites by precisely applying heat to the injured patch of skin.
Initial results were less than encouraging, but that may be as much a comment on the vigor of San Francisco mosquitoes as the effectiveness of the Therapik, which appears to be little more than a doctored flashlight. We expect to give the gadget a more thorough workout when we head to the hills this weekend, after which we'll have a full review. Oh, the pain we endure for your enlightenment and entertainment.
