In Jason Calacanis' CalacanisCast episode 26, the baby-faced entrepreneur interviews Digg CEO Jay Adelson and EFF lawyer Fred von Lohmann about this week's nerd riot over the cracked HD DVD processing key. If you haven't followed the whole thing, this is the best way to catch up. Executive summary: Adelson says that at the height of the user backlash over Digg's removal of posts containing the HD DVD key, the forbidden numeric code was re-posted to Digg twice per second by the geek mob. Von Lohmann says the AACS Licensing Authority, which sent Digg the cease-and-desist letter that caused them to remove the posted code in the first place, would be "crazy" to escalate to a lawsuit, because it would only spur further codebreaking against the consortium's content protection mechanisms elsewhere -- perhaps in locations safe from legal action.
