Being a graphic designer for hire is tough. But there are artistic compromises and then there are unbeknownst compromises. Just ask Howard Grossman, who UNKNOWINGLY imitated Chip Kidd's classic cover for Jurassic Park, despite the fact he admits he tried hard to avoid any similarities (via IronicSans). The cover on the far right is Grossman's original design for the hardcover and the mass market paperback. The one in the middle is a later re-design the pulishers were nice lame enough to attribute to him (image from IronicSans, thanks David).
That's a bummer and a half, Howard. As if the anxiety of influence weren't bad enough...
