AMD also chose today to offer more details about its upcoming quad-core CPU design called "Phenom," along with its new graphics processor ATI Radeon 2000 launch. What I don't get is why AMD claimed to have shown somewhere in California last weekend the "industry’s only true quad-core client processors." Hasn't Intel's PC quad-core design been in channels since last year? What about AMD's own Opteron quad-core server design? At any rate, AMD will not launch the Phenom until sometime in the second half of the year.

It is interesting to note that AMD is remaining true to its earlier claims in that it is readying multicore designs. Over the weekend, AMD said it previewed a working eight-core platform. It won't be too long before we see 20+ cores on a CPU. Did anyone ever hear about packing a graphics core in their as well?
