The Alabama Department of Homeland Security has pulled the plug on a controversial web site that featured a list of groups deemed likely to engage in terrorist activity, according to a report in the AP yesterday. Some of the entries on the list were: gay rights groups, war protesters, environmental activists, abortion foes and animal rights advocates. The site, which went up in 2004, included this description:

"Single-issue extremists often focus on issues that are important to all of us. However, they have no problem crossing the line between legal protest and ... illegal acts, to include even murder, to succeed in their goals."
