Test driving a Ferrari, a Formula 1 car or a Porsche can be, needless to say, adrenaline-charged experiences. But I can't think of anything that would beat the thrill of blasting off in a rocket to a space station. How long will it be before the first journalists get to experience the first test rides for commercial space launches?
Charles Simonyi, the Microsoft exec billionaire who brought us Word and Excel, is now getting ready to dock up with the International Space Station, in which he will orbit earth after taking off in the Soyuz over the weekend. Simonyi got to pay for his trip, of course, but if I had extra millions to spend like him, it sure wouldn't take long for me to make my mind up.
His blog Charles in Space offers some astounding video, too. I got to watch him take off this morning. At 18:30 GMT, I can't wait to see videos of the Soyuz docking with the space station.
