As if 475 hp wasn't enough, Ford will unveil the Shelby Cobra GT500KR at the New York Auto Show this week — with 540 horses under the hood, the most powerful Mustang ever. KR means today what it meant when Ford rolled out the 1968 GT500KR: King of the Road. The new version looks the part, sporting a scooped carbon fiber composite bonnet with twist-down racing hoodpins and a deeper front air dam. With updated ignition and intake systems and recalibrated throttle, this monster puts out 510 lb/ft of torque. The Shelby Cobra GT500KR is due next spring — but if you want one, get a move on: this special edition is limited to a 1000-car run. Meanwhile, watch this space for photos from the New York Auto Show.
