The first TV ad for the Audi R8 is a quick trip down the racetrack to look at Audi's innovations in motorsport, starting in 1934 with the mid-mounted engine. As is typical with Audi, it's all about the car: The ad (which was shot in Mexico) features five original vehicles from the 1920s and 1930s, six from the 1950s, and a 1937 Auto Union Type C racing car replica, as well as two silver Audi R8s. History notwithstanding, the R8 has the starring role. Good call.
