CondicMaureen Condic, neurobiologist from the University of Utah School of Medicine, recently spent an hour criticizing embryonic stem cells for a few Florida Republicans – all in the name of legislator education, leading up to a vote on stem cells.

Tuesday, the day after the lecture, Flores sent out an e-mail asking fellow Republicans to sign on as co-sponsors of her bill. In the e-mail she cited the meeting: "As Dr. Condic stated, adult stem-cell research is quicker, cheaper and poses no danger to patients. It allows us to get the most `bang for our buck.' She did an outstanding job of separating fact from emotion and clarifying much of the misinformation that has been reported as fact."

Serendipic timing, this news. An upcoming column of mine will clarify one insidious piece of "misinformation that has been reported as fact" about adult stem cells.

All in the name of education, mind you.
