The Bahrain World Trade Center is the first commercial building with large-scale, not-just-for-show wind turbines. The propellers are attached to three bridges that span the two skyscrapers. The 15,000-square-foot multiplex houses office space, shops and a hotel. The blades aren't fully functional yet, but will cover up to 15 percent of the buildings energy needs (roughly 1100 to 1300 megawatt-hours a year). Who says turbines have to be an eyesore?
