Porsche announced today that "starting as early as next year," all Porsche models will comply with the strict EU5 CO2 emission standards that take effect in September 2009, as well as the EU6 standard (as currently defined), which won't kick in until September 2014.
In the same announcement, Porsche reminds us (for what it's worth) that all its current engines will run on fuel with some added ethanol, ranging from 10 percent for sports models to 25 percent for the Cayenne SUV. That ain't E85, but it's something. The company also has a flex-fuel model in the works that does either gasoline or ethanol blends up to E85, though the announcement gives no ETA. And of course the Cayenne Hybrid is now confirmed for 2009.
More coming soon from correspondent Bruce Gain on the latest from Porsche and other carmakers at the Geneva Motor Show.
