_2_4 This tree was made for chopping. Plywood Tree, by Christopher Robbins, is being exhibited at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum. At High Noon on the last day of the exhibit (April 18), they are not going to take it down, they are going to cut it down.

See, Robbins built this tree out of plywood. He planted it in the ground (see pictures here) and then, as planned, he will ax it. But the tree's journey will not end there. Robbins will mill his artwork back into plywood and return it to Home Depot. What will they give him in return? A paper receipt. Thus concluding "its tortured cycle from tree to wood to paper."

It is no wonder he calls his project a futile loop.
