I'm in Seattle today for the Microsoft Research TechFest. It's sort of like a big show and tell session for all of the research teams at Microsoft. The company has labs in distant locations all over the world, and every year, they fly all of their researchers up to Redmond to show off what they've been working on. For the researchers, it's a chance to demonstrate their applications and hacks for thousands of Microsoft employees. For the product people at MS, it's a chance to see what the geeks in white lab coats have been doing with their products. I'm hoping to see a bunch of network devices, lots of mobile hardware, bizarre user interfaces and a few untraditional uses for the Xbox. But the truth is, I have no idea what to expect. I'm also hoping to get a tour of Microsoft HQ, so I'll post pictures here if I get them. Off to the keynote.
