You could see this one coming like a drunk salesman late for a presentation: Several U.S. jurisdictions are considering laws to ban texting while driving, in the wake of a series of PDA-related crashes.
Washington, Arizona and Oregon all have laws in the work that would make it a criminal offense to read, write or send electronic messages while operating a motor vehicle, closing a predictable loophole in widespread legislation that requires hands-free operation for phone calls while driving.
Driving While Texting has already claimed several lives, including a Tennessee man who who lost control of his pickup and plunged down an embankment while sending a message two years ago, and a more recent case in which a Colorado teen struck and killed a bicyclist while messaging a friend.
