I was inspired today by the LiveJournal Dramanator, which generates drama for you on the fly out of other people's drama. I plugged in a random LJ name, and got this instant drama, all formatted and ready to plop into a text field:

I don't know why
[info]calliopeo went all psycho over me and
[info]gwenners having a little fun.

What sucks is that everybody has asked why I'm leaving the furry fandombut the answer is simple: Some of you know who you are and why I'mleaving FOREVAR.

Everybody on LJ makes jokes about how the site amplifies drama, but it's hard to measure these things objectively. That's why I did a little keyword searching via LJseek, the LJ search engine. I discovered a few patterns that shouldn't surprise you (remember these are just stats for openly searchable entries):

Number of entries where the words "drama" and "relationship" appear:
107,916

Number where "drama" and "sex" appear: 115,738

But as I searched, I noticed a funny pattern. Lots of drama was related to gaming:

Number of entries where "drama" and "guild" appear: 3,115

And family:

Number of entries where "drama" and "parents" appear: 122,536

But few people had philosophical discussions of drama about drama:

Number of entries containing the phrase "meta-drama": 9

And everybody agreed on one thing:

Number of entries containing the phrase "LJ drama": 10,957
