Eli Roth is the new master of the ironic horror flick. If Evil Dead director Sam Raimi is the Groucho Marx of horror, then Eli Roth is the Lenny Bruce of gore. Hostel is savage social satire of the best sort, and I'm hoping that Hostel II will somehow manage to top the first and take the let's-torture-Americans scenario in new directions. The trailer gives me hope – styled as a fake public service ad, it's full of gleeful violence and anti-American quips. I can't tell you how psyched I am about this flick.
