As you may have noticed, a few of us are down here in Austin, TX covering the South by Southwest interactive, film, and music festivals, but I thought it was worth veering off-topic for a moment to mention SavetheStreams.org, an action-oriented website launched on Friday that allows people who don't want to see SoundExchange kill webcasting to sign a petition and contact their Congressional representatives.

So far, nearly 10,000 people have signed the petition; that number should increase sharply as word gets out that legal webcasting could be wiped off of the net.

Thanks to RAIN for pointing this out (their current issue also includes coverage on National Public Radio and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting's attempt to set Washington straight on webcasting royalty rates).
