Oral cancer afflicts about 30,000 Americans every year. One in four of them dies -- but, as with so many
cancers, the number could be lessened if the disease was detected earlier.
Enter the ViziLite Plus, a detection system made by Zila, an Arizona-based company that specializes in treating oral diseases. Patients gargle with an acetic acid solution that makes previously undetectable pre-cancerous lesions shine white under light from a proprietary glow stick.
As an added bonus, the acetic acid solution is raspberry flavored -- though, to judge by the photo, it might not taste very good -- and the glow stick needs to be bent and shaken before it works. ViziLite Plus: coming soon to a dentist's office -- or rave -- near you!
