General Motors Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Rick Wagoner told me before our interview started today that he reads "Wired" and mentioned our article on "plug in cars," so I assume he was referring to John Gartner's Detroit's Coupe de Grace on GM and Ford's plug-and-roll cars or Detroit's Coupe de Grace, also by John Gartner? I asked what is next, and how we could add to the story. Wagoner mentioned battery technologies:

On the electric side, the game that is going to be played is battery technology and that is an obvious statement because that has been the game for the last 100 years. But there is a lot of enthusiasm about the promise of lithium ion technology, so I think the thing to watch is can we develop cost efficiently the capacity that meets the automotive requirements, particularly the cooling issue.
