That's the message from a new study by evolutionary biologists in the journal American Naturalist, which finds that mice with the longest penises have the most luck with the ladies:

The researchers compared the relative bone size of penises from several mammals to see if possessing a longer penis gave males an advantage in breeding.

"Thedata for rodents seem pretty clear cut,” said study author Steve Ramm,
an evolutionary biologist at the University of Liverpool, UK. “Specieswhere sexual competition between males is most intense also tend tohave the longest penises.”

But... primates and bats didn't show a similar connection. And researchers aren't sure why certain male rats get such a benefit.
