Since we're on the subject of government secrecy, I've got a little tidbit for y'all: We may get to finally learn just how hard the military is clamping down on bloggers in uniform.
A while back, the Electronic Frontier Foundation filed Freedom of Information Act requests, to try to find out from the Army how exactly soldiers' blogs were being monitored (and maybe even censored). The Army dragged its feet on the request, so the EFF sued the Army, to force the service to comply.
EFF lawyers tell me that there's now a court date set for their legal confrontation. Defense geeks, put April 24 down in your calendars. That's when Judge Emmet G. Sullivan, of the U.S. District Court in Washington, DC, will be hearing the EFF-Army case. Before that, the EFF will be filing motions, to try to
compel the Army to release its material, ahead of time.
