Check out this interview with three masters of the 1980s creature feature: John Landis (American Werewolf in London), John Carpenter (The Thing, Halloween), and David Cronenberg (Scanners, Videodrome). This is an unusual interview because all three guys are in the same room chit-chatting about the movies that are about to make them superstars. Cronenberg was at work on Videodrome, and Carpenter was at work on The Thing. Both of those flicks really set the tone for 1980s horror, with their high-quality gloop effects and focus on paranoia and mind control.

This is also an unusual group interview in that you get a really good sense of these creators' personalities: Landis is the affable, goofy guy; Carpenter is the snarky cowboy of few words; and Cronenberg is the spooky, brainy guy who makes references to Freud. They basically start ignoring the interviewer and chat with each other about regrettable ways they've edited their movies and why the ratings system is messed up (Landis snarks about Reagan being president, which is priceless).
