BMW has been showing off a new chassis design on a snow test track in Arjeplog, Sweden, during the past few days that it says adds more stability to the all-wheel-drive performance of its sedans. The so-called Dynamic Performance Control distributes drive forces "infinitely" to the rear wheels regardless of engine output, whatever that means.

I thought the idea was to distribute torque evenly with electronics controls through the chassis, but BMW says its system gives the 5 Series go-kart like control.

A spokeswoman said the technology will not show up in production cars this year, and did not disclose a launch date.
