Researchers have come out with a new study that says 18 million American men suffer from occasional or full-time impotency (or erectile dysfunction, if you want to be politically correct about it.)

And it's not just a problem for older guys like Bob Dole: young men are affected too.

This tidbit is especially interesting:

"...men who are physically inactive and had high rates of sedentary behavior, such as watching three or more hours of TV per day, were much more likely to have erectile dysfunction compared with men who were physically active"...

The problem with this kind of study is that it's difficult, if not impossible, to confirm a cause-and-effect relationship.

Does watching a lot of TV make you impotent? Probably not in itself, but lots of tube-viewing could mean you never get any exercise, and that could be the cause of your problems. Or it could mean something else: that you stay home and watch TV because you're depressed over being impotent. Or being impotent might make you too intimidated to go out and try to meet potential dates.

In all, it's a tough thing to figure out.
