The 1971 Citroën DS 21ie Prestige Pallas is a classic among Citroën's famous line of DS cars (DS is pronounced "day ess," which in French is a pun on the word "goddess"). Besides its famous sleek design that was ahead of its time aerodynamic wise, the DS 21 features a gas-powered hydraulic suspension, which raises the chassis and lowers it when turning the ignition on or off. The suspension system also maintains smooth driving over rough roads. The model shown here was used as a chauffeur car for French ministers and other public officials in the early 1970s.
