Rinspeed will show during the Geneva Motor Show next month its eXasis concept—the body might look like it is made of glass, but the exterior is instead made out of a carbon-based material, designed by Bayer MaterialScience AG. The eXasis is intended to look "insect-like" and like a cross between "Auto-Union racing cars from the first half of the last century and an off-road vehicle, offering room for two people, one behind the other." Unlike most concept cars, the insides will also be on display, comprising a two-cylinder, bioethanol-powered Weber engine with 150
horsepower, which is housed above the transmission. According to the firm, only one horsepower has to displace 5- kg, which is comparable to a Porsche’s power/weight ratio.
I already emailed Rinspeed’s CEO about when we can drive the eXasis. He hasn’t responded yet.
