It's eye candy for dorks! My knickers are in a bunch this morning because Anne Casselman of Inkling Magazine (pictured at right dreaming of Java) has announced a photo contest in honor of the book about nerdy ladies I co-edited with Charlie Anders, She's Such a Geek. The contest is open until Feb. 28, and the prize is a beautiful poster of Lady Lovelace Ada Byron, whom Casselman correctly describes as a "glam Victorian programmer babe." Here are some details:

The photo which best suits the caption “OMG she’s such a geek!” winsa gorgeous 20” by 30” poster (ahem, that’s 38.7 billion billion squareAngstroms or to those of you who operate in light years, it’s barelymore than 4 x 10 to the minus 34th square Parsecs) of Lady Lovelace AdaByron, dubbed by her dad Lord Byron as “The Princess ofParallelograms,” delivered straight to their hallowed doorstep. Bonus points go to submissions that include the book SSAG itself. Winners announced the following Wednesday March 7th. Giddyap!

I'm going to be checking out Inkling every day to see all those pictures of geeky girls. In case you boys are feeling left out, remember that you can take pictures too. Men, this could be your chance to meet the nerdy chicks of your dreams in a non-creepy way. Just say, "Oh yeah, I'm entering a photo contest which is all about empowering female geeks." Works every time.
