Mercedes latest G-Class doesn't offer S-Class-level electronics and gadgetry, but it is definitely a lot more sophisticated than the first model in the series that launched in 1979. Inside the cabin of what Mercedes calls its "off-road terrain vehicle," the driver can see what is behind the car oDcxgclass_1n a 6.5-inch screen--Toyota and others have offered this feature for years, though. The 500 Station Wagon G-Class version is fitted with the sports exhaust outake that the Mercedes G 55 AMG offers. For handling, the all-wheel drive is complemented by an electronically controlled traction system, which is designed to boost vehicle grip on slippery surfaces. For the adventurous driver, the G Class comes equipped with three engageable differential locks, including a low-range ratio option for particularly off-the-beaten path terrain. No word about electronically controlled anti-rollover features, though.
