The P is for pint-sized: Fujitsu's 2.9-pound pocket P7230 is quite possibly the lightest laptop on the market with an integrated optical drive. That's no small feat: Sleek and impossibly portable, this LifeBook is smaller than almost all other ultralights, even ones that don't offer DVD. Alas, the tradeoffs are numerous. First, there's screen size. The 10.6-inch LCD is eye-strainingly small... and then there's, well, everything else. With 1 GB of RAM and a 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo CPU, the LifeBook drags bottom on most tasks, stuttering on just about every application. And the choice of Vista Business Edition is frustrating: What good is an optical drive if the OS doesn't include software to watch DVDs?
