I have 20-something photographs to process and manipulate for Unhallowed Metropolis, every single one of them requiring a vintage finish. So you will forgive me for my current fixation, and enjoy the slew of old-timey photo postings. I know you will, my dulcet darlings.
I discovered Amoelbarroco by accident, browsing through one of the myriad Steampunk Flickr pools, and was instantly drawn to her skillfully eccentric wardrobe and devil-may-care presentation. The only thing better than a woman with style is a woman with style who doesn't take herself seriously. There is a palpable sense of fun in her shots, a lack of conceit or arrogance. She is skillful, but unconcerned.
Is steampunk a noun? There has always seemed something not-quite-right about referring to a person as "a steampunk", the word "punk" having already been firmly issued a master role in the modern lexicon. She describes herself as a "dead dandy", which is good enough for me.
As a flippant aside, this is the one and only example I've encountered of drawing on one's face with liquid eyeliner and achieving anything other than a revolting result. I love her perfectly curled, pointillated eyelids.
