In case you were interested in how to make a viral video on a Mac, read through for my full account of shooting, sort of editing and posting to YouTube a video series over Christmas. It's the "Great Jones Soda Holiday Tasting," a tragedy in five parts.
No Windows machines were harmed in the process. Read on for more – and be sure to click through to see the videos. My nephew Ian's face is priceless as he tries to drink the "Pea Soda." I look terrible, but I had just flown in on a red-eye. That's me on the right.

Step one: Pick up an RCA Small Wonder or equivalent. The new generation of flash-drive powered camcorders are just made to generate mischief. This was a gift to my dad from my mom, and it holds a good 30 minutes and captures completely competent audio, too.
Step two: Have your mom operate the camera.
Step three: Do something morally repugnant, like a taste test of all five disgusting flavors from Jones Soda's Holiday Pack: Pea (I KNOW), Dinner Roll, Sweet Potato, Turkey and Gravy and Antacid. Be mildly amusing while you do it. The help of a cute kid totally helps.
Step four: Simply mount the camcorder to your Mac via USB and pull out your clips. You can view them to make sure they aren't garbled, but where's the fun in that? We're trying to start a viral sensation?
Step five: Head to YouTube. Get an account if you don't have one. Start uploading. It might take a long, long time, but they'll be up before you know it.
Step six: Send it to friends and family.
Step seven: Get linked on a major blog.
Step eight: Sit back and watch the clicks.
