DaimlerChrysler's Mercedes unit said its Affalterbach, Germany-based engineering team has developed a ground-hugging performance version of its Mercedes-Benz AMG for those who just can't get enough power. Mercedes will offer a 514-horspower version of the E 63 AMG saloon for an extra € 7,140 ($9,229) this March. Mercedes makes no bones about it by coming out and saying this performance pack version is geared for the racetrack. Amgpowerboost_1

Highlights include a multi-disc rear locking differential that Mercedes says offers a 40% locking effect for better traction for acceleration blasts out of corners, specialty performance suspension,18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, and a special sport-model steering wheel, replete with aluminum shift paddles.

Unfortunately, we have yet to take it out on the racetrack to test Mercedes' performance claims.
