I figure that, as a matter of common courtesy, every filmmaker should upload every short film they've ever made. Why not, right? Anyone still dreaming of making money from their short movies, get real! Just float on that bubbly feeling of getting favorited. Free your shorts, your mind will follow! Long story short, I'm having trouble locating most of the Sundance gems I promised you. Here's a few compromises:
- Couldn't say exactly what Mirror (above) is about, but appreciate how director Lee Lanier annotates the tools of the modern primitive. A primer for those of us with unviolated skin. 2) I remain, six years later, weak in the knees for the 2001 film Populi by David Russo, America's finest indie stop-motion artist. But I only found this grainy little excerpt. 3) Deadline's fun. 4) And most of Corky Quakenbush's spoofs, including one of COPS, are cutesy-edgy.
There are several more I've got my heart set on finding. That quest ends when the Sundance Online Film Festival launches tomorrow, leaving me with 40 new films to watch. Until then, eyes wide open.
