Renault offered a teaser yesterday of its new R27 Renault Sport model with the Renault F1 Team in Amsterdam yesterday. The R27 will share some of the trimmings with the model that has twice won the Formula 1 world championship. Specific to the Renault F1 team's car identity are red brake calipers, Sirius yellow colors and other F1 body trimmings.
What it won't do I learned today is beat the previous Clio Sport model, the V6, in a standstill to 62.5 mph sprint, a Renault spokesman said.
That's because the special F1 edition of the Clio Renault Sport model more closely resembles the larger, yet slower Mégane
Renault F1 team model.
The Clio V6 goes from 0-62.5 mph in about 5.8 seconds thanks to a
3-liter, 24-valve V6 engine that delivers 255 horsepower at 7,150
rpm. The R27 Renault Sport's specs will be made available at the Geneva Motor
Show in March, which is when you can also order the specialty car.
