Sundance 2007 Bad TV Made Me Do It

Oops! I accidentally called The Signal a zombie film in my Wired News Sundance preview ... It's not, as the filmmakers, a trio of directors from Atlanta, corrected me. Zombies know not what they do (forgive them) but the nasty folks in The Signal who bash in their neighbors' heads are fully sentient. In any case, The Signal is bloody good fun, and it carries an eensy socio-political message, too: TVs are dangerous! Especially huge plasma screens, one of which everyone in The Signal's city of Terminus apparently owns. The Signal has become one of Sundance's cinderella stories, with the obviously talented filmmakers inking a deal with Magnolia Pictures. Expect to see this excellent sci-fi horror flick in theaters as early as summer 2007.
