I applaud you for the desire to implement change in your publication which I have enjoyed regularly for almost two years now and sporadically before then. Companies do need to challenge their image on a regular basis in order to continue in a dynamic, technology driven world. The following opinion may be due to some of the changes, the particular article content, or a combination of both. I'm not a big fan. I felt the type choices and layout too disjointed, not the clever random-yet-unified presentation of the previous design. The type used on the first page of the "start" section (umm...interesting logo...) left me with a slight headache due to it's cramped and hard to read feel. The paper choice, on the other hand, was definitely more readable; especially in the fluorescent glare of airports across the nation. The photography and art choices gave me the impression I had accidentally picked up a Popular Science/Mechanics or business mag. I found my self breezing through the whole issue and really only reading most of one article, Here Comes Trouble. Normally I will read the majority of each issue, sometimes more than once. Overall I would say that you are absolutely right in trying to reinvent the look and feel of your publication, but I miss my airport companion while waiting for connecting flights.
