Franklin Electronic is showing off a new electronic translator that will help you avoid shame and frustration in 12 languages.
The TGA-490 is about the size of an average PDA and includes a dictionary with 450,000 words and 12,000 phrases in 12 languages. The machine will show translations between any two languages, displaying both phonetic and native character transcriptions for Asian languages. It will also speak the word or phrase.
Languages covered are: Mandarin Chinese, Dutch, English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish.
The device also crams in an MP3 player, currency converter, world clock, alarm and voice recorder. Look for it in February, price TBA.
