I can't believe there were ever Dungeons and Dragons commercials on TV, but the early 1980s were a wacky time. Here, preserved with just a few bits of static, is a lovely example of the sort of commercial that probably never should have been shown. Featuring five ultra-nerdy teens playing D&D ("It's a product of your imagination!" explains the echoey narrator), the action segues between their wide-eyed gesturing and a cheesy cartoon of dwarves and whatnot fighting a red dragon. Nobody has ever really figured out how to make playing an RPG look exciting. Maybe that's because . . . it's a product of your imagination! Also, is that Matthew Lillard in there as the second gamer guy?
