A school board in Georgia voted on Friday to keep Harry Potter books in school libraries, despite protests from a suburban mom that the books promoted witchcraft. Laura Mallory, the mother in question, is pissed off by the decision and is considering court action. She told the Associated Press:
School librarians responded by saying if the criteria for banning books was inclusion of witchy themes, they'd also have to ban Cinderella. What pisses me off is that this lady wanted to ban the book, but not the movies. I mean, if she hates witchcraft, shouldn't she be lobbying the local movie theaters to ban the movies too? It seems all she really wanted to do was impede kids' literacy skills.
